Twenty Somalis killed in accident on Khums-Zliten road
Tripoli, 29 December: Twenty Somali migrants were killed early this morning and another 55 injured as they were being smuggled from Ajdabiya into Tripoli, sources told the Libya Herald today, when the secret compartment of the lorry they were hidden in collapsed on top of them.
They were travelling in a secret compartment in a lorry that was taking them to Tripoli, when the vehicle had an accident, causing the bricks and steel used to conceal them to collapse on top of them.
The accident took place in the Wadi Kaum area on the road between Zliten and Khums, some 90 kilometres outside of Tripoli.
It is understood that the driver of the lorry fled the scene and that security forces are currently trying to find him to investigate the incident.
